SAHAT KULA I SAHAT KAPIJA – DEO TVRĐAVE IZGRAĐEN ZA VREME VLADAVINE DVA CARSTVA

U okviru Gornjeg grada kalemegdanske tvrđave nalaze se najpoznatija kapija i kula na Kalemegdanu – Sahat kula i Sahat kapija. Kapija datira još iz 17. veka, ali tek u 19. veku gradi se Sahat kula po kojoj kapija i dobija ime. Ono što mnogi ljudi koji se nađu u Beogradu ne znaju, jeste po čemu su one posebne?

U okviru Sahat kapije nekada su stražari spavali i čuvali svoje oružje. Danas se u njoj nalazi Galerija Beogradske tvrđave. Sa unutrašnjom kapijom povezana je drvenim mostovima. Ti mostovi izgrađeni su tako da su se, ukoliko bi neko napao tvrđavu, oni mogli spaliti i na taj način onemogućiti neprijatelju da priđe.

 

Sahat kula visoka je 27,5 mestara i počela je da se gradi za vreme austrougraske vladavine. Tokom njene gradnje, Beograd je pao pod tursku vlast, međutim, kula je završena i to sa istim graditeljem. Ova kula jedan je od malo delova Beogradske tvrđave koji nije pretpreo oštećenja tokom vremena i osvajanja.

 

Na kuli se nalazi sat koji je u dvadestom veku donet iz Zemuna. Posetiocima je omogućen ulaz u kulu, a kako se iz nje pruža potpuno drugačiji pogled na ceo Kalemegdan obilazak ove kule je nešto što ne smete proputiti.

 

 

SAHAT TOWER AND SAHAT GATE – THE PART OF THE FORTRESS WHICH WAS CONSTRUCTED BY THE TWO EMPIRE

 

In the Upper town of Kalemegdan fortress you can see the most famous gate and tower of Kalemegdan – the Sahat tower and the Sahat gate. The gate dates was built way back in the  17th century, but the Sahat tower was built, by which the gate was named, was built in the 19th century. Many people who find themselves in Belgrade do not know, why are they so special and significant?

In the Sahat gate the guards used to sleep and keep their weapons. Today there is the Gallery of the Belgrade Fortress. Sahat gate is connected whit inner gate by wooden bridges. These bridges were built so that if someone attacked the fortress, they could burn and prevent the enemy from conquering the fortress.

The Sahat tower is 27.5 meters high and it building was started during the Austro-Hungarian rule. Although during its construction Belgrade fortress fell under Turkish empire, the tower was build with the same builder. This tower is one of the few parts of the Belgrade Fortress that has not suffered damage during time and conquest.

On the Sahat tower is a clock that was brought from Zemun in the twentieth century. Visitors are allowed to enter the tower, and it provides a completely different view of the entire Kalemegdan. Because of that, the tour of this tower is something you should not miss.
