U serijalu tekstova “Dobro došli u Zemun” koji slede predstavićemo Vam lokacije koje u Zemunu, koje nikoga do sada nisu ostavile ravnodušnim. Ova opština nudi sve što čoveka zanima počevši od istorijskih građevina i ličnosti, noćni život, prelepu arhitekturu, čak i skrivene delove na prvi pogled neistražene, i jednostavno, svoj jedinstveni duh.
Zemunska gimnazija je osnovana 23. septembra 1858. godine i po zvaničnim beleškama bila je 11. gimnazija u tadašnjoj državi. Osnovana je ukazom izuzetno cenjenog Josipa Juraja Štrosmajera.
Tokom Prvog svetskog rata zgrada je služila kao baza austrougarske vojske koja je zbog malog objekta u Zemunskom parku imala potrebe za preseljenjem.
Zanimljivosti koje prate ovu gimnaziju iz tog perioda je da je 1900. godine samo jedan učenik maturirao. U kasnijem periodu bitna informacija je da su 1958. spojene muške i ženske sekcije, i danas je ona najveća gimnazija u Srbiji sa preko 1300 učenika. Opremljena je najmodernije u državi kada je 2021. završena rekonstrukcija ove čuvene ustanove.

The Zemun High School was founded on September 23, 1858, and according to official records, it was the 11th high school in the state at that time. It was founded by the decree of the extremely respected Josip Juraj Štrosmajer. During the First World War, the building served as a base for the Austro-Hungarian army, which needed to be relocated because of the small building in Zemunski Park. Interesting things that follow this high school from that period is that in 1900, only one student graduated. In the later period, the important information is that in 1958 the male and female sections were merged, and today it is the largest high school in Serbia with over 1300 students. It was equipped with the most modern equipment in the country when the reconstruction of this famous institution was completed in 2021. It is located in the Zemun Park and near the Pinki hall.
