Once an elite hotel with numerous famous guests from all over the world, it was a symbol of the luxurious and hedonistic life offered by Belgrade at the time. Hotel Jugoslavija was then the center of events and the pride of the city and the country! The aim was to show financial strength and seriousness in the construction of this imposing, glamorous building. Since its founding in 1969, it has gathered the most influential people from around the world from various fields, and the real sensation was the arrival of the leaders of the major world powers, such as the representative of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi, the presidents of the United States of America, Jimmy Carter and Richard Nixon, then astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin as and people from the entertainment world – megastar Tina Turner and Hollywood icon Kevin Costner. Perhaps the biggest historical name that was a guest of the hotel is Queen Elizabeth II. This monumental building with a view of Ratno ostrvo and Kalemegdan once had over 1,000 beds in 200 single rooms, 400 double rooms and 23 suites, thus setting standards in the world hotel industry. Unfortunately, fate decided to close its doors to this legendary hotel due to the political situation in the country and the world, and after the bombing due to NATO aggression, the building was affected and thus ceased to operate in 1999. Its new beginning was only in 2013, and since then it has been welcoming guests with its three stars on 3 floors overlooking the Danube. Within the hotel there are numerous restaurants, lounges as well as the Grand Casino, with very accessible parking.
