Moj dan u Novom Sadu: Gradska kuća

Pod sloganom “Moj dan u Novom Sadu” portal Glas Nacije vam otkriva šta bi trebalo posetiti prilikom dolaska u Novi Sad.

My day in Novi Sad: City Hall

Under the slogan "My day in Novi Sad", the Glas Nacije portal reveals what you should visit when you arrive in Novi Sad. The City Hall in Novi Sad is the seat of the Mayor of Novi Sad, from where the city has been managed for a little over 100 years. The first Magistrate was established in 1748 and was located on the present site of the City Hall, and was housed in a rented house of a butcher and a city senator. The magistrate moved several times throughout the city, until 1895 when the City Hall was built. Although there were problems during the construction around the choice of location because Svetozar Miletić and the Catholics had a different view of the best location for such a facility, the Catholics still won and the City Hall was built on the Main Square. The high tower with a balcony from 1907 was decorated with the cross "Matilda", which was used for fire notification. This building was also used for organizing balls. Although there are no more bells, the City Hall still attracts the eyes of both Novi Sad residents and tourists with its beauty. Today, more balls are not organized, but only serves for the stay of the city government and its administration.
