Moj dan u Novom Sadu: Nikolajevska crkva

Pod sloganom “Moj dan u Novom Sadu” portal Glas Nacije vam otkriva šta bi trebalo posetiti prilikom dolaska u Novi Sad.

Baš zbog malo detalja do izražaja dolazi i veću lepotu samoj crkvi daje ikona svetog Nikole.

My day in Novi Sad: Nikolajevska church

Under the slogan "My day in Novi Sad", the Glas Nacije portal reveals what you should visit when you arrive in Novi Sad. Nikolajevska church or as it was once known as Nedeljko's church after the founder Nedeljko Bogdanović, is a cultural monument of great importance, which was erected in the 18th century. During the revolution of 1849, the temple was destroyed, but it was soon rebuilt thanks to the Novi Sad humanists Jovan and Marija Trandafil. Since there was not enough money to build the whole church, it was built, and the interior of the church was not tidy, so it served as a military warehouse for some time.

The Nikolajevska church is the smallest Orthodox church in Novi Sad, of modest construction without decorations on the walls, a simple iconostasis, and it is adorned with two gilded domes. Precisely because of a few details, the icon of St. Nicholas comes to the fore and gives greater beauty to the church itself. The church also houses a valuable icon of the Black Maltese Mother of God, which is believed to be a gift from a Greek believer. Nedeljko Bogdanović, Jovan Trandafil, and Marija Trandafil were buried in the temple as the founders of this place of worship. An interesting fact is that the children of the world scientist Albert Einstein were baptized in this temple.
